All students begin on the foundation year, which provides a solid foundation for a Bible teaching ministry or for further study.
The foundation year provides an introduction into the books of the Bible along with ministry and teaching skills.Students will learn how to handle and teach different types of Biblical literature as they study a Bible overview and Bible books in detail.
The lectures for the foundation year are taught by a number of different ministers from within Devon and Cornwall. Along with their expertise in teaching the Bible they are able to complement this with their pastoral experience rooted in the local church. Teaching is undertaken in a number of ways including lectures, seminars, practical exercise and small group workshop sessions.
I’m Evie and I was a Ministry Assistant at St Andrew’s Church, Plymouth with a main focus of kids work but also working with students. I loved being part of the first year. PGP has developed my Biblical knowledge, has taught me skills in how to read the Bible, how to prepare talks/Bible studies and more. Most importantly it has been a place where I feel I can be spiritually challenged, where I can ask questions freely and where I can practise my new skills in an encouraging, supportive environment!
