Who is it for?

Occasional Preachers
Youth leaders
Women’s workers
… any one who gives a ‘Bible talk’

Whether you preach regularly or occasionally, whether it’s your ‘day job’ or something you do voluntarily, whether you open up the Bible in the gathered congregation or in another setting, the aim of the Pitstop is to help and encourage us to ‘up our game’ and work at our bible teaching and preaching.

A core conviction of Gospel Partnerships across the UK is
The means of gospel ministry is the prayerful teaching of the Bible
It is as the Bible is taught in the power of the Spirit that God’s voice is heard

We long that, across the region, God’s word might be proclaimed ever more faithfully, engagingly and compellingly, and that ‘the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honoured’ (2 Thessalonians 3:1)

The Conference

The main speaker is Andrew Sach. He is on the staff at the Cornhill training course and co-author of Dig Deeper and Dig Even Deeper – Tools to Unearth the Bible’s Treasure. Andrew is a member at Grace Church, Greenwich.

There will be a mixture of expositions and workshops, looking together at Mark’s Gospel. Although it is probably one of the more familiar books, Andrew will be helping us get to ‘get in tune with the author’s purpose, which is the essence of expository preaching.’ He assures us ‘There will be more there than we expect’

The planned schedule is as follows:

Thursday evening
Arrival, register, evening meal.
Interview with Andrew on the joys and pitfalls of preaching.

8 – 9am Breakfast
9 – 10am Exposition
10:45 – 12:15 Workshop
12:30 Lunch
1:30 – 3pm Workshop
3:30 – 4:30 Exposition
6 – 7pm Exposition
7:15 Supper
Interview with an experienced preacher on illustrations and application.

8 – 9am Breakfast
9 – 10:30 Workshop
11:15 – 12:15 Exposition
12:20 Lunch and leave

Costs and what you get

We have booked the dates at Sidholm’s very favourable conference rates – as long as we make a group booking. That means booking through PGP (If you book directly you will not get the same rate.)

The rates below include:

Thursday arrival: Two course main dinner

Friday: Full English Breakfast
Morning tea / coffee
Two course Lunch
Afternoon tea
Three course dinner (including meat, fish and vegetarian options)

Saturday: Full English Breakfast
Morning tea / coffee
Soup and sandwich prior to leaving

All the rooms except the Standard in the Annex include ensuite shower and / or bath. If you have a particular need, such as ground floor, or shower only (some are over a bath), please let us know early otherwise they will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Two of the rooms in the Main House have ensuite wet-rooms.

Many rooms are double or twin, but there is no supplement for single occupancy.

The prices below also include £15 contribution to PGP expenses.

Reserving your place and payment details

  1. Please contact Tim on to make a provisional reservation, specifying your room requirements. This can be done by sending an email or by using the Contact form below.
  2. As soon as you receive acknowledgement please pay the appropriate amount to PGP. This will confirm your booking and prevent your room being re-allocated in the event that style of room becomes unavailable.
  3. Payment details will be given on confirmation of room availability.

Remember, all bookings are allocated on first come first served basis, the links below are provisional until confirmed and paid for. Please specify if you wish for a double occupancy (but note there is no discount) or have any special requirement.
