The PGP Ministry Training Course
The flagship of the PGP, meeting for a day a week over 3 terms for a mixture of lectures, interactive seminars and workshop groups. The course began in 2004 and is for anyone who would like to learn and grow in the Christian faith, but especially for those involved in or wanting to teach the Bible.
The heart of the course is a focus on biblical theology with a Bible overview, as well as on the skills for handling different types of biblical literature through studying Bible books in detail. A second year includes in-depth work on a number of Bible books, doctrines and guided reading.
The Preachers’ Pitstop
We have held two of these residential 2 day conferences for church preaching teams with exposition and workshops. Everything was of course put on hold during the Lockdowns of 2020-21, and we are currently assessing whether these popular and worthwhile conferences can be re-established as a regular feature of the PGP.
Partnership Days
Looking to bring high quality biblical teaching to the region, we have laid on days working through a whole Bible book – giving established and prospective preachers a worked example of doing this well – and others tackling a pressing current topic, such as a recent session thinking together through the identification and training up of the next generation of leaders.
Local Training Days
We’re also happy to encourage similar events targeted more at a sub-region of the peninsula, too, such as a recent event at St Kea (Truro) working with churches’ musicians.
Encouraging Church Planting and re-vitalisation
Mostly informally and behind-the-scenes, many of us are seeking to encourage godly ministers to join us in this corner of the harvest field.
But there is much more we would like to do together to serve our local churches in the cause of Christ … with YOUR help!
We would like to be able to consider whether our Ministry Training Course could be adapted to be able to offer modules around the region, perhaps using the digital technologies we all become so familiar with during the COVID restrictions. We want to establish effective communication between churches across the Peninsula. We want to continue to facilitate mutual prayer between congregations and improve the support and encouragement available locally for pastors (so check out and subscribe to our weekly prayer bulletins). In all of this our primary aim is – together – to promote partnership for authentic biblical mission.
